The Research Laboratory for Oral–Systemic Health (RLOSH) is equipped with advanced infrastructure to support interdisciplinary research in oral microbiology, molecular biology, and oral–systemic disease investigations. The core facilities enable high-quality experimental research, diagnostic studies, and translational applications.

Major Research Capabilities –RLOSH

The RLOSH possesses strong interdisciplinary research capabilities in oral microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and translational oral–systemic health research. The laboratory infrastructure and expertise support the following major research activities:

1. Oral Microbiology Research

• Isolation, identification, and characterization of oral microorganisms (aerobe and anaerobe
• Study of microbial dysbiosis associated with periodontal and systemic diseases

2. Molecular Diagnostics and Biomarker Studies

• PCR-based detection of viral and bacterial pathogens
• Molecular analysis related to oral cancer and potentially malignant disorders

3. Oral–Systemic Disease Association Studies

• Research on the link between oral infections and systemic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammatory disorders
• Investigation of inflammatory mediators and microbial pathways influencing systemic health

4. Antimicrobial Research

• Evaluation of antimicrobial agents and therapeutic formulations against Bacterial pathogens

5. Clinical and Translational Research

• Analysis of exfoliated oral cells and saliva for diagnostic biomarkers
