13. Oral Health and Oral Cancer Screening Camp Sidco
On 22 December 2025, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology postgraduate students, in collaboration with COCPAR – Centre for Oral Cancer Prevention, Awareness and Research and the Rotary Club, conducted an oral health and oral cancer screening camp for SIDCO Industrial Estate employees at Thirumazhisai. A total of 150 individuals were screened. Oral examinations were performed as part of general oral health screening as well as targeted oral cancer screening and swab samples were collected from suspicious cases for further evaluation. The camp emphasized early detection, awareness and prevention of oral cancer.
14. Master Stroke – “Pal Thalanghal” Mega Dental Camp
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology participated in the “Master Stroke – Pal Thalanghal” Mega Dental Camp for CMRL employees, organized by Rotary District 3234 in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Centennial Madras and Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital.
The camp was inaugurated by Thiru. Ma. Subramanian, Honourable Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. Oral Pathology postgraduate students were deployed at Chennai Central, Alandur, Airport, and Koyambedu Metro stations, where they conducted oral screening, identified potentially malignant disorders and educated participants on early diagnosis and oral cancer prevention.
The program was conducted in association with COCPAR – Centre for Oral Cancer Prevention, Awareness and Research, emphasizing community-based oral cancer screening and preventive oncology. The initiative enhanced postgraduate students’ clinical exposure while contributing to community oral health promotion.
15. Awareness Program
On November 27, 2025, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology, organized a guest lecture program on “ONCOREVOLUTION”. The event featured three enriching sessions delivered by renowned medical and dental specialists from Gleneagles Hospital, Chennai. The distinguished speakers of the day were Dr. Shubhra Chauhan Aramanai (Senior Consultant Head and Neck – Surgical Oncology), Dr. K. Azmi Saundarya (Clinical Lead and Consultant Radiation Oncologist), and Dr. Balaji Ramani (Senior Consultant, Head and Neck Surgical Oncology). The speakers gave a comprehensive and educational overview of oncology with an emphasis on oral, breast and cervical cancers. The lectures covered fundamental oncology principles, diagnostic methods, treatment strategies and recent advancements such radiation therapy, robotic oncology, breast oncology and oncoplastic reconstruction. The program was highly beneficial for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, enriching their understanding of current trends in cancer diagnosis and management. The session concluded with a formal gesture of appreciation, as mementos were presented to the guest speakers for their valuable contributions.
