Greetings from the Department of Physiology at Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Chennai!

I bring a sense of pride, and a great anticipation, in greeting you to our department—firmly based in academic medical education since it was established in 1988. We have come too far over the years, in both academic excellence and dedication to teaching, learning and research.

Our mission is based on the knowledge that a comprehensive base in human physiology is a foundation for good dental care. We aim to create a dynamic academic environment that encourages intellectual inquisitiveness, scientific discovery and lifelong learning in our undergraduate and graduate students.

The department also benefits from world-class facilities that enable us to provide traditional and innovative teaching methods, through the use of the latest teaching aids and a specialist research laboratory. We pride ourselves on the quality of our faculty – seasoned, lively, research-driven instructors who take students beyond theory and into the practice of clinical medicine.

The program has been conscientiously developed to create an in-depth knowledge of the organ systems of the body, strong experiential learning, applying and generating knowledge and scholarly interest. Our students are encouraged to participate in funded research and to present at national and state-level academic forums.

Our consistent academic performance—evident in a commendable pass percentage of 98%—reflects the department’s commitment to quality education and student success.
