The Curriculum for I BDS students is designed to provide an understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms of systems and integrative physiology. Our undergraduate students receive training in theory and practical physiology.

We also teach the students the applied aspects of physiology, which will help them to enhance their knowledge of pathophysiology, for their future clinical application.

The physiology curriculum includes various systems, including blood, cell and body fluids, musculoskeletal system, gastrointestinal system, endocrine system, excretory system, cardiovascular system respiratory system, reproductive system, nervous system, lymphatics and special senses.

We follow the DCI syllabus but we also teach extra topics like basic cell biology, and genetics to improve students' knowledge. We have an extensive MCQ Bank of 1600 questions. We conduct more than the stipulated practical classes to improve students' practical skills...

According to the University policy, the students get assessments after each class, regular module exams, and comprehensive revision classes with model exams at the end of every term.

Learning Methods

Our College follows a unique methodology in teaching such as the teaching and Learning process in small groups which is very effective. This method of teaching greatly enhances student attentiveness, improves grasping, simplifies concepts and provides an active learning environment and helps the student to understand the concept in a much better simplest way. The different activities include JIGSAW, Roleplay, Peer-led team-based learning, pedagogy, etc.

One-word teaching :will force active listening during the class period, as students will need to be able to condense an entire lesson into the essence of its idea.

Opposite arguments: Pair students up who disagree about an answer to an opinion question. Have them debate, representing the side they originally believed to be wrong.

Test Tournament: Divides the class into at least two groups and announces a competition for the most points on a practice test. Let students study a topic together and then give your quiz, tallying points.

Flip the classroom: In a flipped classroom students review lecture material at home and work on projects and assignments in the classroom.

Jigsaws: jigsaws introduce the opportunity for students to teach other students. Explaining something to someone is often considered the best way to truly understand it.

As we mentioned when discussing jigsaws, students exhibit mastery when they explain or teach others.

Cross-over teaching:

While this form of teaching does not include technology, it is an enriching experience for the student as well as the faculty. Here, the learning happens in an informal setting such as after-college learning

Our department is also involved in conducting seminars, international webinars, workshops and conferences based on the recent trends in research and serves as a platform for augmenting the staff and student community to update their knowledge

They also have the opportunity to indulge in research activities and to carry out small funded Projects. They are also encouraged to present papers in state and national conference

PostGraduate Curriculum:

The Dental clinical speciality Postgraduates are guided in physiology to satisfy the training requirements as per their speciality norms, dissertations, thesis and research.

Right from day one student are guided to focus on Training and Research in Molecular Biology in the Central Research Laboratory. Evidenced Based Medical Education is encouraged.

Students are encouraged to attend Conferences, present papers, CME and workshops to update their knowledge.

Applied learning of Clinical physiology is encouraged through postings in the Laboratory, and Clinical Posting in Special Departments like Endocrinology, Diabetology, Genetics and Nephrology.

The department to the needs of the students and patients by imparting theoretical, and practical skills to the students and providing quality, efficient and reliable laboratory service to the patients.
