In observance of World No Tobacco Day 2026, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, organized an Oral Health Awareness and Screening Camp at Child Home for Children, Kulathur, on 2nd June 2026. A team comprising faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns from the Department of Public Health Dentistry free oral health check-ups for the children. The screening helped identify common oral health concerns and provided an opportunity to educate the children on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and seeking timely dental care.
To make learning engaging and interactive, a series of gamebased awareness activities were organized. These activities focused on oral health promotion, healthy dietary habits, and creating awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use. The children actively participated in the games and demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the sessions.
A tooth-brushing technique demonstration was conducted to educate the children on the correct method of brushing and the importance of daily oral hygiene practices. The demonstration emphasized proper brushing habits, the appropriate duration of brushing, and the role of oral hygiene in preventing dental diseases.
As part of the awareness initiative, educational pamphlets containing information on oral hygiene, healthy eating habits, and tobacco prevention were distributed to the children and caregivers. The materials served as valuable resources for reinforcing the key messages delivered during the program.
The camp witnessed active participation and created a positive learning environment for the children. The program successfully enhanced awareness about oral health, encouraged healthy habits, and supported the objectives of World No Tobacco Day 2026 by promoting a tobacco free and health-conscious future generation
