The Human Genetics Research Centre (HGRC) is equipped to conduct advanced research in molecular biology, genomics, and translational medicine. Human Genetics Research Centre (DST-FIST) Funded facility includes Molecular Genetics Laboratory and Microbial Genetics Laboratory. The Centre is fully equipped to enable all clinicians and student researchers to pursue real-time research.

CORE FACILITIES


The Human Genetics Research Centre (HGRC) Core Facility is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art infrastructure supporting advanced research in molecular biology, genetics, and precision medicine.


Designed to meet both academic and clinical research needs, the facility integrates cutting-edge technologies for accurate experimentation and analysis.

It is equipped with Real-Time PCR Systems for gene amplification, Gene Expression Workstations for functional studies, and DNA/RNA Extraction Platforms for high-quality nucleic acid isolation. Advanced Bioinformatics Workstations and Genomic Data Analysis Tools enable efficient interpretation of complex genetic data. The facility also includes Gel Electrophoresis Systems, Nucleic Acid Quantification Systems, and PCR & Restriction Enzyme Digestion Platforms for routine molecular workflows.


Additionally, Molecular Imaging Systems aid in visualization, while Deep Freezer Storage Facilities ensure secure sample preservation. The HGRC Core Facility empowers researchers with reliable, high-throughput tools, fostering innovation and excellence in genetic research, diagnostics, and personalized healthcare solutions.


MAJOR RESEARCH CAPABILITIES


The Human Genetics Research Centre (HGRC) offers a wide spectrum of advanced research capabilities, supporting innovation in molecular biology, genetics, and biomedical sciences. The centre specializes in gene mutation and genetic polymorphism analysis, enabling the identification of genetic variations associated with diseases. It also conducts mitochondrial functional analysis to study cellular energy mechanisms and related disorders.


HGRC is equipped for both quantitative and qualitative gene expression analysis, providing insights into gene regulation and function. Expertise in Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) and DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and quantification ensures precise molecular investigations. The facility supports molecular diagnostics and pathogen detection, aiding in early disease identification.


Additionally, the centre performs protein analysis and enzyme kinetics studies, along with agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis techniques.
