Oral Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp for Industrial Employees

As part of the Oral Cancer Awareness Program, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, in collaboration with the Indian Dental Association, organized an Oral Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp for the employees of Bharath EMS Solution Private Limited at Pallikaranai on 21st May 2026 under the theme “Strengthening Workforce Health.”

The outreach initiative was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness regarding oral cancer and encouraging preventive oral healthcare practices among industrial workers. Recognizing the importance of occupational health and wellness, the program focused on educating employees about the significance of early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular oral health screening.

A dedicated team comprising faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns from the Department of Public Health Dentistry carried out comprehensive oral examinations and screenings for the employees. The participants were educated about the early signs and symptoms of oral cancer, the harmful effects of tobacco and areca nut consumption, and the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene for overall health and well-being.

As part of the awareness initiative, informative pamphlets containing details on oral cancer prevention, oral hygiene maintenance, and healthy living practices were distributed among the participants. Interactive educational sessions were conducted to encourage the workforce to adopt healthier habits and seek timely professional care whenever required.

To further reinforce the message of preventive oral healthcare, toothbrushes and toothpaste kits were distributed to all attendees. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from the employees and created a positive impact by integrating oral health awareness into the workplace environment.

The camp successfully reflected the institution’s continued commitment toward community outreach and preventive healthcare by extending essential oral health services and education to the industrial workforce.
