As part of the ongoing Oral Cancer Awareness Program, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, in association with the Indian Dental Association, organized an Oral Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp for the employees of Future Skills IT at Kovilambakkam on 21st May 2026 under the theme “Healthy Smiles at Work.”
The program was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness about oral cancer, encouraging preventive oral healthcare practices, and emphasizing the importance of early detection among working professionals. In today’s fast-paced corporate environment, stress, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and neglect of routine health check-ups often contribute to an increased risk of oral diseases. Keeping this in view, the camp focused on educating employees about maintaining optimal oral health alongside overall well-being.
Faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns from the Department of Public Health Dentistry conducted comprehensive oral screenings for the employees. Participants were educated about the early signs and symptoms of oral cancer, the adverse effects of tobacco and areca nut consumption, and the significance of regular dental examinations for timely diagnosis and prevention.
To strengthen awareness initiatives, educational pamphlets containing information on oral cancer prevention, oral hygiene maintenance, and healthy lifestyle practices were distributed to all participants. Interactive awareness sessions encouraged employees to adopt positive health behaviors and prioritize preventive healthcare in their daily routines.
As part of the outreach activity, toothbrushes and toothpaste kits were distributed to the attendees to reinforce the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene practices. The camp witnessed active participation and appreciation from the employees, reflecting the growing awareness and acceptance of preventive oral healthcare within the corporate sector.
The program successfully highlighted the importance of integrating oral health promotion into workplace wellness initiatives and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment toward community-oriented preventive healthcare services.
