• 1998: The Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery was established at Sree Balaji dental college and hospital, Pallikaranai, Chennai.
• 1999: 1st Batch of MDS commenced with 2 post graduates.
• 2001: 1st Batch of MDS passed out.
• 2002: The department started functioning under the domain Bharath university.
