UNDER GRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAM :


DCI REQUIREMENTS :


The undergraduate syllabus strictly adheres to DCI protocols, with planned classes and allocated staff. Students receive regular study materials, including notes. Lessons/ Classes would be planned and staffs are allocated with their turns on specific days. Mock tests prepare them for final exams. Special attention is given to underperforming students through additional coaching. Student records and workbooks are routinely assessed and monitored.

  • Comprehensive Learning Resources The departmental library is equipped with an extensive collection of contemporary textbooks, journals, and periodicals in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, enabling students to access the latest scientific literature and reference materials with ease.

SOFT SKILL DEVELOPMENT


There are periodic lectures on self – development to keep the students spirits high and keen on learning.


POST GRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAM :

Notes and useful study materials would be given to students on a regular basis. Mock tests are held to prepare them for final exams. Special care and attention would be given for those who do not perform well. They would be identified and given additional hours of coaching. Records and workbooks of all students are assessed and monitored routinely.


Highlights of the Postgraduate Training Programme


  • Comprehensive Clinical Exposure: Postgraduate students receive extensive clinical training encompassing dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma management, orthognathic surgery, cleft and craniofacial surgery, TMJ disorders, pathology, oncology, and implantology. Each trainee is progressively guided from basic procedures to advanced surgical interventions under expert supervision.
  • Structured Academic and Surgical Training: Advanced Faculty members systematically allocate theory sessions, seminars, journal clubs, clinical discussions, and surgical demonstrations, ensuring a balanced academic and clinical learning environment aligned with the MDS curriculum.
  • Operative Skill Development: Postgraduates gain hands-on experience in minor oral surgical procedures, implant placement, bone grafting, maxillofacial trauma fixation, orthognathic osteotomies, and reconstructive surgeries. Simulation-based training and cadaver workshops further refine their technical proficiency.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Regular interdisciplinary sessions with departments such as Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, and Oral Pathology foster a comprehensive understanding of facial rehabilitation, occlusal harmony, and aesthetic reconstruction.
  • Research and Academic Excellence: Each postgraduate engages in systematic reviews, mini research projects, and a dissertation approved by the Directorate of Research, promoting innovation and contribution to scientific literature in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Mentorship and Professional Development: Senior faculty members provide individual mentorship, guiding postgraduates in clinical acumen, research methodology, ethical surgical practice, and preparation for professional examinations and academic careers.
  • Conferences and Continuing Education: Students are encouraged to present papers, posters, and clinical innovations at national and international conferences, fostering academic visibility and professional growth.

SOFT SKILL DEVELOPMENT :


All PG Students are trained in taking Seminars and Journal club discussions. It teaches them to research in depth about any particular topic.


INTER DEPARTMENTAL DISCUSSIONS :


There are routine Clinical Society Meetings and Inter Departmental Discussion held frequently to enhance and explore the Inter Disciplinary treatment approaches.


PROBLEM BASED LEARNING :


The Students are trained to approach diagnosis and treatment planning for patients as a Problem Based Learning method to solve the mystery in each Patient Case. This is done to make learning more fun, interactive and practical


SCIENTIFIC PAPER PRESENTATIONS :


Students actively participate in paper presentations and also attend hand -on courses held in conferences


WEBINARS:


Webinars by various renowned speakers were conducted in the online platform for the benefit of the students during the covid pandemic.
