About the Department

The Department of physiology was started in the year 1988. Started blackboard teaching; now we have advanced lecture LCD teaching. Throughout we have maintained a high standard which is reflected in the pass percentage which has now reached 98%.

The department has an excellent infrastructure and experienced faculty to aid teaching and research activities. Physiology is taught to a wide range of UG & PG students. The faculties use various teaching methodologies which are of immense benefit to the students. The faculties are also successfully involved in diverse research projects and have published many papers in well-reputed Scopus-indexed and Thomson Reuters journals.

Curriculum

The Curriculum for I BDS student is designed to provide the understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms of systems and integrative physiology. Our undergraduate students receive training in theory and practical physiology.

They also have the opportunity to indulge in research activities and to carry out small funded Projects. They are also encouraged to present papers in state and national conference.

We also teach the students the applied aspects of physiology, which will help them to enhance their knowledge of pathophysiology.

The curriculum includes seminars, integrated lecture series, both horizontal and vertical.

Physiology curriculum includes various systems, blood and body fluids, skeletal muscle, gastrointestinal system, endocrine system, excretory system, cardiovascular system respiratory system, reproductive system and special senses.

The undergraduates are trained in hematology and clinical physiology practicals.

Research Lab:

The area of the research lab. is 50 Sq.m meant for research purposes. It is well equipped with all necessary instruments such as Rota rod apparatus, Actophotometer, Pole climbing apparatus, Plethymography, UV spectrophotometer, Eddy’s hot plate, Analgesiometer, Calorimeter, Centrifuge and plus maze apparatus
