History

The undergraduate (UG) program was established in 1989 with an annual intake of 100 students. The program is designed to provide comprehensive education and training to students, enabling them to develop proficiency in diagnosing and treating a wide range of common oral lesions. The focus is on honing their clinical skills, preparing them to become competent dental professionals in the future.

In 2007, the postgraduate (PG) program was initiated, offering admission to 3 PG students each year. This program spans a duration of 3 years and is designed to provide advanced knowledge and specialized training in various aspects of dentistry.

Furthermore, in 2019, the department introduced a PhD program, further expanding its academic offerings. This program offers a research-focused curriculum, allowing students to pursue in-depth studies and contribute to the field of oral medicine and related areas.

Through these programs, the department aims to nurture skilled and knowledgeable dental professionals at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, fostering excellence in patient care, research, and oral healthcare advancements.
