Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at SBDCH is dedicated to aid in comprehensive dental care for children from infancy through adolescence where the specialist provides essential and complete oral health care. Care of medically and developmentally compromised and disabled children are also at our priority in this specialty. An extensive curriculum with imperative didactic background and vast clinical experience helps students to foster a holistic approach in disciplines such as behavior guidance, care of the medically and developmentally compromised and disabled patient, supervision of orofacial growth and development, caries prevention, sedation, pharmacological management, and hospital dentistry, as well as other traditional fields of dentistry.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry was started in the year 1989. By the year 2007, Post Graduate programme was started with Dr. A. Ponnudurai as the Head of the department. Through these years under his guidance 15 batches of PG students have successfully passed out. Under the Head of the department we have one senior professor, one reader and four senior lecturers at service who shower knowledge to the students.
