The Department of Microbiology, Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital organized an Industrial visit to GJ Multiclave situated at Survey No. 245, Thenmelpakkam Village, ingaperumal Koil, Chengalpattu Taluk, Kancheepuram District on 28.02.2026. The II BDS students accompanied by the faculty members visited GJ Multiclave, a biomedical waste management facility, as part of their academic learning program. The visit was aimed to provide practical knowledge regarding the collection, segregation, transportation, treatment, and disposal of biomedical waste generated from healthcare institutions.
During the visit, the students were briefed on the various categories of biomedical waste, color-coding systems, and the importance of proper waste management in preventing environmental contamination and the spread of infections. They observed the operation of waste treatment technologies, including autoclaving and shredding processes, and learned about the regulatory guidelines governing biomedical waste disposal.
The visit enhanced the students' understanding of infection control practices, environmental safety, and the crucial role of healthcare professionals in ensuring responsible waste management. Overall, the visit was informative and provided valuable real-world exposure to biomedical waste management practices.
