The Department since its inception has been engaged in Teaching, Research, and patient care by offering Clinical Lab services. The Department has ambient location at SreeBalaji Medical College& Hospital, Bharath University.

Undergraduate Curriculum::

The syllabus for I BDS is as per the Dental Council of India Norms. Horizontal Integrated Teaching Module in Basic Medical Sciences is implemented. Biochemistry syllabus encompasses Basic and Clinical Biochemistry with special emphasis on applied aspects.

Post Graduate Curriculum::

The Dental clinical speciality Postgraduates are guided in Biochemistry to satisfy the training requirements as per their specialty norms, dissertations, thesis and research.
Right from day one students are guided to focus on Training and Research in Molecular Biology in the Central Research Laboratory. Evidenced Based Medical Education is encouraged.
Students are encouraged to attend Conferences, present papers, CME and workshops to update their knowledge.
Applied learning of Clinical Biochemistry is encouraged through postings in the Laboratory, and Clinical Posting in the Special Departments like Endocrinology, Diabetolgy, Genetics and Nephrology.
The department caters to the needs of the students and patients by imparting theoretical, practical skills to the students and providing quality, efficient and reliable laboratory service to the patients.

The Department of Biochemistry, SBDCH , caters to the needs of student community in the undergraduate and postgraduate education and fundamental research in Biochemistry.
A team of dedicated teachers with rich experience in research, frame curriculum and modify it periodically to accommodate the latest developments.
With the mission to equip and prepare students to attain global competency, the department emphasizes education, counselling and coaching on all areas of Biochemistry for their future careers.
The work carried out in our research labs is second to none in the national level and has achieved global recognition. Realising that teaching becomes more authoritative and relevant only through expertise in research; the excellence in core areas is strengthened by promoting and providing opportunities for interdisciplinary research.

The Department has very highly qualified (all doctorates) well experienced, dedicated and devoted staff members.


DR. A.JULIUS M.Sc., Ph.D., has received his Ph.D., at 1999 and joined the department and started guiding M.Phill and Ph.D., from 2006 onwards (from other Universities also). Produced 10 Ph.D’s and 9 M.Phill’s so far. Chief Superintendent of examinations conducting UG, PG and other examinations for more than fifteen years.



DR.P. JAYAMATHI M.Sc., M.Phil, Ph.D. most experienced staff has received research funding from Tamil Nadu Government and who has been the back bone in signing MOU (With Tambaram Siddha Research Institute) and organising conference (The art of Thesis writing ).



MATHANGI, M.Sc., M.Phil,(Ph.D) will enthusiastically take part in all the activities of the Department. She was Assistant to Chief Superintendent of Examinations helped to conduct UG and PG examinations



V.SARAVANAN M.Sc., M.Phil, ¯(Ph.D).will regularly and sincerely will take part in all Department activities. He is Assistant to Chief Superintendent of Examinations helping to conduct UG and PG examinations
