As part of the ongoing Anti-Tobacco Awareness Week, Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital organized a Drawing and Slogan Writing Contest on 2nd June 2025 to promote creativity and advocacy among dental students on the harmful effects of tobacco.
The event took place in the college lecture hall and saw enthusiastic participation from both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The theme for the contest was “Tobacco: A Threat to Health and Life”, aligning with the broader message of World No Tobacco Day.
Students used the platform to express their thoughts and knowledge through powerful artwork and impactful slogans. The drawings reflected themes such as the dangers of tobacco consumption, the benefits of quitting, and the role of dental professionals in tobacco cessation. Slogans were written in both English and Tamil to enhance accessibility and reach.
The entries were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising senior faculty members based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and clarity of message. The top three winners from each category were awarded certificates and prizes in a brief felicitation ceremony held later that day.
This contest successfully encouraged students to engage actively in public health education through art and language, while also reinforcing their role as future advocates for a tobacco-free society. The event concluded with a message from the organizing committee, urging all students to continue spreading awareness both within and beyond the clinical setting.
